ACS712 Current Sensor Module
Product Overview:
The ACS712 Current Sensor Module is an analog current sensor that uses Hall Effect technology to measure the current flowing through a conductor. It is designed to provide precise and accurate measurements of both AC and DC currents in the range of 5A, 20A, or 30A. The module outputs a voltage proportional to the measured current, making it easy to interface with microcontrollers and other electronics for real-time current monitoring.
Key Features:
- Power Supply: The module operates on a 5V power supply with an on-board power indicator.
- Output Voltage at Zero Current: When no current flows through the sensor, the output voltage is approximately VCC / 2, making it easy to detect and measure both positive and negative currents.
- Hall Effect Technology: The ACS712 uses Hall Effect sensing for accurate current detection without the need for direct electrical contact with the conductor, ensuring safety and reliability.
- Precision Analog Output: The module provides an analog output voltage that varies with the measured current:
- 5A Model: Measures currents from -5A to +5A. The analog output corresponds to 185mV/A.
- 20A Model: Measures currents from -20A to +20A. The analog output corresponds to 100mV/A.
- 30A Model: Measures currents from -30A to +30A. The analog output corresponds to 66mV/A.
Specifications:
- Sensor Model: ACS712 (Available in 5A, 20A, or 30A versions)
- Board Size: 31mm x 13mm
- Operating Voltage: 5V (with on-board power indicator)
- Output Voltage at 0A: VCC / 2 (midpoint voltage)
- Measurement Accuracy: Output voltage change is proportional to the current flowing through the sensor (mV/A):
- 5A Version: 185mV per Ampere
- 20A Version: 100mV per Ampere
- 30A Version: 66mV per Ampere
- Working Principle: Hall Effect sensor technology for non-contact current measurement.
- Current Measurement Range:
- 5A Model: -5A to +5A
- 20A Model: -20A to +20A
- 30A Model: -30A to +30A
Applications:
- Power Monitoring Systems: Monitor current usage in power supplies and devices.
- Battery Management Systems: Measure and track current in rechargeable battery systems.
- Motor Control Systems: Measure current drawn by motors and other inductive loads.
- Overcurrent Protection: Monitor current for overcurrent protection in circuits.
Important Notes:
- Zero Current Voltage: When no current is passing through the sensor, the output voltage is at VCC / 2, which is the baseline reference.
- Hall Effect Technology: The ACS712 sensor works on the Hall Effect principle, so avoid strong magnetic fields to prevent interference with the measurements.
Options Available:
